Orientation on Koh Phangan (part 1)
In our first part “Orientation on Koh Phangan“We drive the scooter from Thongsala harbor along the three main routes on the west coast towards the north.
These three main streets are:
- The coastal road - Coast Road - ends in Haad Salad
- The Middle Road ends in Haad Mae Haad
- The Police Road ends in Chaloklam
Do you ask someone for directions no matter if Thai or foreigner, will be sent to you using these street names.
The coastal road
optical am schönsten of course you drive directly along the coast. However, you should be particularly careful and foresighted here due to the poor road conditions and the many bends and slopes.
The coastal road ends at Haad Salad, If you keep to the right there, you come to the middle road from where you can either drive back to Thongsala, or continue to Haad Mae Haad.
The middle street
The middle road usually nestles closely along the coastal road, but is a wide, well-developed road. Small roads keep going away on the left, which take you straight to the coast. On the way you come to the Wat Samai Kongka passing through his larger than life representations of Guilt & Atonement in Buddhism is known.
At the end of the Mittelstraße you will reach Haad Mae Haad, if you keep right there you come to Chaloklam.
The police street
For local conditions, the police street is almost a freeway. You take this street if you go to the phaeng or Paradise Waterfall want, or the particularly beautiful temple of the “Goddess of Mercy“want to visit.
In the northernmost town of Koh Phangan, in Chaloklam, the police street ends. If you follow the course of the road to the left in the town center, you will meet the Mittelstraße and can continue to Haad Mae Haad. If you turn right you will reach the wonderful Haad Khom Beach.
