Asanha Bucha and Khao Phansa

Asanha Bucha recalls the Buddha's first speech after enlightenment. This is followed by Khao Phansa, the three-month rainy season exam. Traditionally, young men now enter the monastery for a certain time.


Makha Bucha is a major Buddhist and national holiday in Thailand that falls on the full moon of the third lunar month. On this day, offices and authorities are closed and the sale of alcohol is prohibited.
