The Chaloklam Diving School was opened over 15 years ago, in the year 1995. The diving school was founded in the north of the island by Michael and Nick, who fell in love with the blue and warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand.
At first it all started just as a couple - with dives and snorkeling trips from land, or with longtail boats.
Koh Phangan Dive: Chaloklam Diving School 2013
Today, Chaloklam Diving School has a reputation for being one of the best diving schools on the island. Dive sites in the Gulf of Thailand: Sail Rock
Hin Bai, better known as Sail Rock, is one of the best known and most popular Diving spots in the Gulf of Thailand, He is known for extremely good visibility, huge shoals of fish, big fish and a breathtaking underwater landscape.
The drive to Sailrock takes about an hour from Chaloklam. The special location of the Sail Rock and stronger currents attract schooling fish and pelagic fish.
Hin Bai protrudes about 15m out of the water and drops on the north side as a steep wall to 35m depth. There is also one Chimneywhich can be dived on 19m, 12m and 7m. The rock itself is overgrown with yellow cup corals, sponges and crust anemones. At deeper levels, you can discover hydrocents and bushy black corals.
Scorpion fish, white-eye morays and large groupers populate the area Hin Bai, Around the rock you will find batfish, fusiliers, snapper and mackerel. In the blue water that surrounds the Sailrock, Pacific mackerels and Marlins swim around. Also whale sharks are spotted again and again at the Sail Rock.
