The Koh Phangan Government Hospital issued an official announcement last night (March 19) that the suspicion has hardened and was diagnosed by a 29-year-old stewardess Covid-19. All necessary measures have been taken and people with whom the woman has been in direct contact have been tested.

Sixteen people in contact with the patient were all tested negative for Covid-16. 16 test results are currently being awaited.

The woman had arrived on the island in mid-March and had previously spent time in Khanom, Nakhon Si Tammarat.

The hospital has announced that it has 6 negative pressure rooms, 18 isolation rooms and 30 additional beds.

Update March 31.3: Patient was discharged 🥳

How I deal with the situation on Koh Phangan

Restrictions for Koh Phangan were decided before the case was confirmed. It remains to be seen whether there will be any further restrictions, the hospital's statement was only published yesterday at 22:00 p.m.

Do I have some supplies at home? Yes, absolutely. However, this is not so special in my case. I live a little further away from the supermarkets in Thongsala and Ban Tai and therefore only ever do a few large purchases.

By the way, a small note with greetings to Germany: Due to Popodusche, toilet paper does not have the same status in most of all houses as it seems with you over there at the moment

Since I try to publish the current status here every day, I am relatively well informed. At the latest, however, I recommend everyone who is still on the island to keep an eye on the situation.

The fact that Koh Phangan is now the first island with on the island confirmed Covid-19 case, of course we don't find it so great on site. Should further infections occur here on site, we will be the first to find out which measures are implemented on an island.

There's not much you can do anyway. However, I would like to recommend everyone who is thinking about a return trip or whose vacation will soon be over now! on the way.
