Thailand is still the top travel destination in South-East Asia, where countless tourists spend their holidays every year. The surrounding countries have been becoming more and more interesting in terms of tourism for years, especially Laos and Cambodia are investing in infrastructure. For me personally, Thailand is still the measure of all things. In addition to the jungle-like north, dream islands such as Koh Samui, Koh Lanta and of course Koh Phangan await in the south. Those who like pulsating metropolises are in good hands in Bangkok. Big city fever is all the rage here and the capital is also the focal point in Thailand. Especially for vacationers, this is usually the start and end of their trip.
There are also airports on Koh Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai. However, these are not designed for larger international flights to Europe or the USA. So if you want to go to Koh Samui, you almost always have to make a stop in Bangkok. Here it is a good idea to spend a few days in the big city, because there is a lot to discover. Backpackers still often prefer Khao San Road, where something is offered 24 hours a day. A party atmosphere is the order of the day here.

How and where in the south of Thailand?
The south leaves nothing to be desired and is also one of the best travel destinations in Asia for me. Next to Koh Phangan, Koh Tao is a personal favorite. The change in tourism cannot be overlooked here either. A few years ago the island was still almost an insider tip, the place Mae Had small and clearly arranged. Meanwhile, all hotels are busy building new diving schools and the island is considered Thailand's hot spot when it comes to diving and snorkeling. A trip to Koh Samui can be worthwhile, especially if a little shopping is on the itinerary. Chaweng or Lamai Beach, where there are countless hotels, restaurants and bars, are particularly popular. There are no limits in the price category. In addition to absolute luxury hotels, you will also find cheaper hotels. If you haven't had enough of the party fever on Koh Phangan, the nightlife in Chaweng has something for everyone. If you like it a little quieter, you should choose another beach on Samui or spend the rest of the trip in the north of Koh Phangan, because there are beautiful and quiet here beaches!
Before heading home, a 3-4 day detour to Bangkok for shopping, city fever and various points of interest & sights... you will never forget this vacation!
